Anxiety or Fears
Anxiety is the most common experience humans have. We are wired this way. When working with me, we will explore your underlying fears, see the value conflict that is arising, and work on coping skills to better handle the shame that comes with your fears.
Child or Adolescent Issues
Dr. Chad has been trained to work with adolescents and the underlying challenges related to body image, acceptance, and self-esteem and the intersecting phase of life challenges adolescents face.
Depression
If life has no joy, if life feels lonely, or if life seems meaningless, then we would say you feel depressed. Depression is more than a mindset, but it has the power to grip your mind and body in fear and shame. I take a holistic approach to depression. We will explore the power of the body to help the mind while also helping the mind support the body. It is a ying-yang relationship.
Divorce
Relationships are difficult. Ending relationships, no matter the circumstances can be very hard. I am the product of a messy divorce and watched my mom struggle afterward. I am also divorced and the experience can leave you feeling defeated, overwhelmed, lost, and maybe even empowered without knowing what to do next. With Dr. Chad, we will explore your experience and help you find your path again.
LGBTQI+ Issues
As a gay male, I understand the struggle, the feelings of isolation, and shame that can arise from coming to terms with our gender and sexual minority status. However, it is from our experiences where we find our strength and growth. You are not alone, and no matter where you fall within the LGBTQI+ community, I believe in your inherent greatness and want to help you believe it.
Life Coaching
Before becoming a psychologist, I became a life and spiritual coach to help my clients achieve their greatest goals and live the life that brought them joy and success. Coaching is different than therapy. Within the coaching relationship, we partner to develop goals, implement plans, and achieve your life goals like starting a business, writing a book, make a career change, lose some weight, or deepen your relationship with your spirituality. As your coach, I will hold you accountable to your goals, encourage you even when you stumble, and be excited about your successes.
Men’s Issues
What does it mean to be a man in today’s society and your culture? How is that image impacting your relationships (even the one with yourself)? Being a man has an inherent set of complications and pressures, which can affect your emotional well-being. If you are finding yourself being more angry, more sad, more lonely, and/or more stress, we address the underlying pressures you are facing and start to change the internal conversation to help you tap into your strengths.
Relationship and Marriage Counseling
Relationships are my jam! While I do not do couple’s therapy, I work with my clients to understand the root of their relationship issues and find a path for growth. I have studied relationships for years. Heck, my dissertation was entitled “How Gay Men Foster Marital Success,” which required I study all types of relationships to understand the cultural, societal, and individual differences that arise in relationship formation through relationship maturity.
Self Esteem
Self-esteem issues are a polite way of talking about shame. Underneath the mean things you say about yourself is shame and fear. I’ve struggled with this most of my life. The terrible things I used to say about myself always seemed to manifest around me, which kept me trapped. We will work to unwind the web of beliefs you have and find the beauty deep inside.
Spirituality
I have an underlying belief that we are spiritual beings. I also acknowledge that spirituality is a personal and unique relationship. I honor your beliefs and want to foster them towards your highest good. Unfortunately, as we move through life, experiences may challenge our spiritual understandings leaving us in a spiritual crisis. If spirituality is light, without it, the seeds of joy and compassion cannot thrive. We will work to find your light.
Stress
To be honest, if you do not experience some stress, you are not living life. Stress is an expected and common part of life. However, our relationship with stress and the amount of stress we face can be the biggest challenges we must address. Using a solution-focused lens, we can address the amount of stress while using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy we can change your relationship with your stress and the issues it brings into your life.
Trauma and PTSD
As a trauma-informed therapist, I understand that almost everyone has experienced trauma at some point in life. A trauma-informed approach means we help you develop, practice, and foster body-regulating coping skills to help you respond differently to the underlying trauma. Will we address the specifics of your trauma? Maybe, but only when you are ready.
Women’s Issues
I was raised by a strong woman. I saw the struggles and witnessed the physical and emotional abuse women experienced. This was my driving factor in becoming a therapist – help empower women, provide them a safe space to process, and foster their strength. Whether your struggles are with self-defeating beliefs, family struggles, work issues, relationships, trauma, marginalization, and/or feelings of isolation, I believe in your power to grow. Every seed needs fertilizer to grow; now you need to use the fertilizer to thrive.
